Lavinia Stamps and the Black Magic Technique.

Hello... quick post today.
I had such a great time at Ally Pally yesterday. Thank you for your company, Karen, Sheila and Melissa.  We all spent far too much!
Tracey and Kevin ( Lavinia Stamps) it was good to see you both and have a catch up chat. x

I've made some more samples using my new Lavinia Stamps and this card is one of them using the Fairy Flower Lanterns. Such a pretty stamp.

You need a 'solid Image' for the black magic technique so this stamp was ideal.
I stamped the image onto black card stock with White Pigment Ink, dried the image with a heat gun, coloured the Lanterns in with Colour Soft colouring pencils and then added 'interest' with a white gel pen. Easy or wot!
Thanks for popping over to my blog today ... and many thanks, once again for taking the trouble to leave such lovely kind comments ... you are all STARS!!

See you tomorrow with a Distress Ink Tag and another 2012 Lavinia Stamp.

PanPastels Challenge .... Good Luck!

Morning all,
In a rush today because I'm off to the 'Smoke' and Ally Pally to buy loads of crafty stuff !
Along with two friends, Karen and Sheila, I will be zooming up to London on the high speed train. Only takes 30 minutes... a cough and a spit and we're there! Looking forward to meeting another friend Melissa, so we can help her spend all her money!
I need some new PanPastel sponges so going to look for those and maybe treat myself to some more Pans as well.

Please pop over and enter our PanPastel Challenge. The theme this week is Good Luck.
You can use any medium you like and we would love to see some of your work. There is a prize of a super trial pack of PanPastels from our Sponsor if you win.

This card was a doodle to make. A 2 inch strip of white linen card coloured with three shades of my Green PanPastels and sprayed with a cheap hairspray to set the chalk... the Shamrock image ( yeah, sorry not a four leaf clover, artistic licence!) was stamped using various colours of Versafine inks.
Stick the completed strip to a White Linen card blank, go mad with some glossy accents to 'bling' it up a bit ..... Bish, bash, bosh !  Tidy!

Right, I'm off.... see you soon.
Thanks for popping over today.
Eileen ( looking forward to watching the F1 racing tonight !) x

Distress Inks Tag and Ryn's Kelp Stamp

Hi de hi crafty mates.
Half way through another week ... time sure does fly when you're retired, like me and can spend hours in your craft room !
I received some smashing stamps this week from Ryn who owns  Designs By Ryn
Just look at that Kelp. I've been waiting a lifetime to say that !
A beautiful stamp that I will use time and time again.
The Distress Ink colours used to create the background for my Tag are, Shaded Lilac, Shabby Shutters and Spiced Marmalade.
After a bit of 'dabbin' here and there with some water, I dried the tag with my heat gun and stamped the Kelp image using Versamark ink and heat embossed the result with the most gorgeous mauve EP.

Only had this colour EP for seven years without finding a use for it!
My Tag looked okay, but needed something to make it 'pop' so I inked the Kelp up again, but this time with Versafine Onyx Black and plonked it over the top.
I like it, how about you?

Got to dash now as I have more of Ryn's super stamps to play with.
I'm a member of Ryn's DT team ... there are thousands of us... well.... just me and Shirley!!
You MUST go over and see what Shirley has been doing with a Faerie Stamp! Fabulous or WOT!
Thanks for popping by today.. also a massive thank you for the truly lovely comments and emails.
Back soon with some Lavinia Stamp  cards ... Busy, busy, busy!

Indigo Blu Stamps, Distress Markers and Inks, Plus a SplodgeAway Mat

Hi-ho crafters,  I've had a right messy time making this card for today's theme on the  SplodgeAway Blog which is 'Watercolour'. Great fun as well!
Using a SplodgeAway Mat  (more about this super bit of kit in a moment) I applied Scattered Straw, Tea Dye, Wild Honey and Frayed Burlap Distress Inks onto some very smooth white card stock.
Indigo Blu Butterfly.
The Splodge Away Mat helped me to distributed the colours evenly without any lines.... how does it work? Read on...

Normally I would press or swipe the Blending Tool into and across my distress ink pad .
This, on occasion, would result in uneven coverage where the ink was not evenly distributed onto the ink pads surface. Especially when the pad was ‘getting on a bit’!

With a Splodge Away Mat you apply the inks directly from the ink pad onto the mat itself, then use the blending tool to ‘buff’ the ink into a wide but evenly spread area on it’s special surface.

The materials used for the Mat stops any uneven ‘lump of colour and therefore as you go across your project with the Blending Tool it allows a quicker, easier, much smoother application of even colour. It has become one of my 'essential' tools.
Tim Holtz Honeycomb Background Stamp
Back to today’s card.
After blending all the colours I sprinkled some water onto the distress inks surface to get a 'splattered ' look and then dried it with a heat gun.
The Indigo Blu Butterfly Stamp was coloured directly onto the stamp with various Distress Markers and lightly sprayed with water before stamping to give me the 'Watercolour' effect I needed.

A few dabs here and there with some white acrylic paint, utilising a small bottle top and a plastic credit card to make some lines and circles. You just sort of plonk 'em about a bit!
Mat and layer on to a White card blank, add a Rub on Sentiment .. Job done!

Thanks for looking today …. I'm hoping to get some SplodgeAway Masks soon … more inky fun … can't wait!
Please see the post below this one for my PanPastel challenge Card.

A PanPastels and Lavinia Stamps Autumn.

Morning all... Sunday Morning and that means a new PanPastel Challenge.
the theme this week is Autumn / Fall. I loved making this card because it used one of my Favourite Stamps, Maple Leaves, from Lavinia Stamps.
Rub on sentiment.. not sure what it means but it makes me look intelligent!

The background was achieved using various colours of the PanPastels... Browns, Orange and a little Red in the mix as well.
After spraying with a cheap hairspray to set the chalk ( please note this is not archival) The Maple leaves were stamped over the top with various colours of Versafine inks.

Please have a go and enter. You can use any medium you like and we would love to see some of your work. There is a prize of a super trial pack of PanPastels from our Sponsor if you win.
Thanks for popping by today. I've  had loads of emails asking about the 'textured' card I often use for my PanPastel Cards ... its White Linen Card stock from the Papermill on-line store.

A big HELLO to my new followers..... nice to see you here.xx
Have a good Sunday and happy crafting.

Morning all ... The "Show us Your Twinchies Challenge " #6 is up and running.
So pop over and have a look. A Twinchie is a 2 inch x 2 inch Square of 'Art' and our theme for this challenge is Add A Stamped Image. I've added a Frog from a set of stamps in the Dylusions Range . He is so sweet ... looks just like someone I used to know!

The other two Twinchies shown here, using the same UTEE and Mica Powder technique as my Frogs, are from an earlier posting and if you look at this post here, you will see how I made them.
Thanks for looking today...
Can't wait to see your super Twinchie art work.
Have a great weekend.

Sheena Douglass New Stamps # Day 4

Hi everyone, this is the last day I have to show you my samples from the Sheena Douglass new Sketchy Stamps Range that are on Create and Create TV tomorrow, the 14th with three shows. The first starts at 11am. Some real bargains to be had!
My first sample is a PanPastel Tag with the pretty Cottage image that I painted using Distress Stains. Easy and fun to make. I layered the colour from the Pans onto White linen card stock to give the Tag a 'textured' look and used my normal white gel Pen to add the 'Snow'.

My Snowman card has a Distress Inks background. A super smooth application with the help of my SplodgeAway Mat!
I dropped some water over the layer of ink to get some texture. Used some sequin waste as a stencil to apply more ink for added interest, then stamped the Snowman and Village image and highlighted him with bleach.
Out came some white acrylic paint, a small bottle-top and an old, expired, plastic RSBP membership card!
The bottle top and card were both dipped / swiped in the paint and sort of dabbed here and there over my picture!  Oooo messy but so satisfying!
Then its matting and laying after adding the Sentiment words from the same stamp set.
My Snowman Tag has a Distress inks background, a few holes made with my big-bite and I decoupaged the Snowman after stamping him onto the Tag and then again onto white card. After cutting him out I added some glitter. This Tag was fun to do and so quick!
All done now.  Please watch the show if you can. Sheena is a superb stamper with great techniques to share.
Cheers for looking today and thank you so much for the e-mails and comments.
See you soon and many thanks also to my NEW followers for joining, commenting and taking an interest in my work X

Tim Holtz Butterflies go Vintage for Cards Galore Challenge.

Hi all just a quickie... I was delighted to be asked to be a Guest Designer for the Cards Galore Challenge blog this week.... Oooooo never been asked to 'guest' before ... Happy day!

The theme is Vintage and I must say I don't often 'do' Vintage cos of the dark colours!  But I'm happy with this tag ... Tim Holtz Butterflies and Honeycomb Stamps, stamped onto some 'screwed up' Glassine Paper with a distress inks background, then another tag cut using some Acetate that I splodged over with various Alcohol Inks before plonking it on the front!
I hope you are impressed with my grasp of the technical expressions!

Quick and easy ... American Seam Binding coloured with Distress Stains and job done ...
Please go over and have a look at the Cards Galore Challenge There are some super samples from the Challenge Design Team. My friend Barbara is one of them .... she has made some stunning Autumn Cards.

Thanks for looking

Sheena Douglass New Stamps Day #3

Morning all, day three and it's time to show you some more samples from the all new 'Sketchy Stamps' range from Sheena Douglass that will be on Create and Craft TV on Friday 14th September. My Mistletoe card was made with a Distress Inks background and the image stamped with various colours of Versafine Inks.

Some Quickutz 'Lips' ( the middle 'waste' from the lips became my 'birds' on the Snowman card yesterday!)  and a few dots here and there with a couple of pens and on to the next card.
This 'With Love' card was so easy to do... Dylusions Inks Sprays for the backgrounds. I love bright colours!

The sentiment was stamped with Black Versafine Ink and after making a few holes with my Big-bite I layered the card onto some gold glitter card so you can see it through the holes!
A bit more matting and layering, a couple of flowers from a Marianne Creatables English Rose Die... job done!
Thank you for looking ...another post later today, so please pop back !
Have a good Wednesday and THANK YOU all so much for the lovely comments .... very kind of you.

Sheena Douglass new Sketchy Stamps # Day 2

Morning all, it's day two for posts regarding the Sheena Douglass new Sketchy Stamps before the launch on Friday 14th September on Create and Craft TV.

My Snowman card ( I think he is adorable!) has a Distress inks background, using a Nestie circle die cut as a mask for the sun. I painted the Snowman and Village Houses with bleach.

The birds are 'bits' from the middle of some Quickutz Lips, die cuts, that I've used on a card I will be showing you tomorrow! .. Don't throw anything away ...that's me!

Before applying Distress Inks to this Tag I stamped and embossed the word 'Mistletoe' with Versamark Ink and white EP. A quick flick with some water onto the inked up tag for some texture then it was dried off with a heat gun.
Holes made with my 'Big Bite' !
I stamped the Mistletoe image using Versafine Olympic Green ink.
A few holes made with a Big-Bite, mounted the Tag on to white card... rock 'n roll job done.
Thanks for looking today ... MORE tomorrow.
Gosh... this week is flying by!

Sheena Douglass...New Stamps to be Launched Friday on Create and Craft TV

PanPastels
Hi everyone... a really exciting day for me today as I can show you a couple of the cards I've made as part of the Design Team for Sheena Douglass.
Cottage painted with Distress Stains
Its all been a bit of a blur and has happened so fast but it's really good fun. Sheena is still adding people to her team I think.
I've had a ball with the Sheena's new Sketchy Stamps to be launched on Create and Craft TV next Friday 14th September....  I used PanPastels for the sun and background and Distress Stains to paint the image. These stamps are not just for Christmas!

This card is my favourite ... it took next to no time to make and I love the vibrant colours of the Distress Inks background. The beautiful Bow Stamp and the Mistletoe 'branches' were stamped with Versafine Inks.
Distress Inks

Thanks for looking today and for all the lovely comments you leave me.

More new samples tomorrow!
